Macy and Matt Head to the English Swimming Nationals

Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club swimmers to swim at the English National Championships

Macy Yoxall (14) and Matt Selous (16) have met the stringent qualifying times to compete at the 2019 English Summer National Championships at ponds Forge Sheffield next week.  Macy has qualified in the women's 14 year old the 100m and 200m Freestyle event with Matt qualifying in the men's 16 year old 200m breaststroke.

Both swimmers train up to 7 days per week across swimming pools in the borough with 6am training sessions a regular occurrence.

Club spokesperson Adrian Wightman said "This is the 5th consecutive year that BOBSC has sent swimmers to the English Nationals.  It is a remarkable achievement and testament to both Macy and Matt's strong training and competitive ethic that they have qualified for the Nationals.

"Both swimmers had to secure entry times in a very short competition window with no guarantee of a place known until all entry time results had been compiled."

"Everyone at the club is immensely proud of both swimmers and we wish them every success in their races"

Macy Said "I'm really pleased to have made Nationals this year , I have had my best season so far and seven years hard work is finally paying off. I enjoy training so much because I swim at least 7 times  a week with some of my best friends who make training fun. Thanks to everyone who has coached and supported me I will try my best to do BOBSC proud ."

Club Captain Matt said "I am very excited to be swimming at the Nationals. I would like to thank everyone at BOBSC for their support over the last few years"
