The Borough of Barnsley swimming club attended the second of the Yorkshire Swimming Association 2017 Championships events at the weekend. Entry to the event was via previously recorded times and was open to the fastest 70 swimmers from Yorkshire clubs in each event and age category. Top ten finishes were achieved by Curtis Harper (Gold 50m freestyle & backstroke, top ten 50m butterfly), Thomas Speed (Bronze 50m breaststroke) Kalum Smart (50m butterfly) Georgia Lee (Silver 50m breaststroke), Megan Sharp (50m freestyle and 50m butterfly) and Roman Wallace (silver 50m breaststroke).
In the team events Barnsley secured a top 10 finish in the boys open 200m medley and the girls 11/12 yr and 15/16 yr old girls 200m medley
Other swimmers who swam in the championships were Eleanor Valentine-Bull, Jasmine Ball, Ella Gibbs, Jessica Richardson, Harriet Ostrowski Jones, Georgia Clarke, Ella Minogue, Millie Hamby, Libby Turner, Georgia Hamblett, Greg Lugton & Drew Metcalf.
